Welcome to SecularWiki
OBJECTIVE: To provide an education about secularism by secularist.
This community is for those who do not find religion at all attractive, but who find reality and responsibility not only attractive, but necessary in everyday life and for the benefit of ALL.
Here is a brief list of things most important to those who are members or would like to be members of our community:
- We are "GOD". Everything and everyone is a part of GOD. GOD could not and does not exist without every single part.
- All writing is scripture (noun - [often lowercase] any writing or book, esp. when of a sacred or religious nature. - from Latin, act of writing, from scrīptus, past participle of scrībere, to write;) All writings of man contain wisdom and are sacred (adjective - regarded with reverence).
- There is no "true" religion ( - noun a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs).
- GOD is ALL, therefore there is no good and evil, right or wrong. There is no sin.
- We are all equal in-so-far-as we are all parts of GOD, however, all of us possess certain talents or experiences that does, indeed, make us all unique and "better" than others at something. We are therefore not equal in that respect.
- Abortion is. Abortion exists and always will regardless of our thought/beliefs on the subject.
- Complete separation of church and state is a must as directed by the framers of the Constitution of The United States and by what we have learned through history.
- Disdain for organized religion is common among those who agree with these statements. A belief in anything false or provable can only be detrimental to society as a whole.
- A hierarchy in ours and any other community is only possible because of our gifts as individuals. Each person giving what they can based on their experience.
- There is no heaven or hell. These places are mythology.
- We are responsible to ourselves first so that we make then include ourselves in the responsibility for others and ultimately our world
- Marriage as defined by religion is entanglement. We do agree with the concept of civil unions for the protection of rights of couples when it comes to emergencies, hospital stays, visitation rights, adoption and last wills and testaments, etc. Marriage is, however, wise to avoid as are other physical entanglements.
- Special privileges must not be given to any interest groups. We are all very special and the claiming of special rights or recognition says otherwise.
- This world is one dimensional. There is no separation between the "spiritual world" or the "material world". ALL is one.
- Death of the body is a natural event. We do not know in what way the consciousness of a person survives the body. We believe that all things are eternal, but need not understand a concept to know that it simply is.
- Prayer is useless.
- Worship of any entity real or mythological is degrading and useless.
- We do not believe in God, prophets, saviors and do not acknowledge one human being as superior to any other.
- The "holy spirit" many religions speak of is the breath of life. One of the main things that connects us all.
- Membership here is 100% free. The only thing that is ask of members is that you be active in contributing your wisdom and experience to the community.
- We are not a religion. We are a community.
- There is life energy in everything.
- Celebrating sacraments or rites is an individual preference and are encouraged.
- Many who believe in these statements do not celebrate holidays as they are founded in religion in one way or another and/or are capitalistic and feed the rich and depress/oppress the poor.
- Although many who agree with these statements are vegetarian, we have no dietary law or restrictions.
- Distrust of governing bodies.
- Our community does not exclude anyone, anyone, can however, exclude themselves. Just as in any group, a "trouble-maker" or rude person will eventually be ignored by the rest of any group and therefore have made themselves "excluded".
- Religion can be a very dangerous thing and should be avoided at all costs.
- We encourage the "testing" and/or questioning of everything we hear or see.
This work is incomplete and always will be.
